Like many people, you may have received a new computer for the holidays. If you’re already an avid user you know how to set it up, install your favorite apps and get to work/play. But if you’ve just moved to a new operating system (Windows 7, OS X or even Linux) you may be a little lost as to the new functionality in your new toy. Luckily lifehacker has put together a great list of tips and tools for whatever system you’re baffled over. Take a look at this list and let me know if you have another cool trick you’d like to share.

When you buy a new PC often times they come with dozens of programs you don’t want, don’t need and only live on your computer to slow you down and use system resources. If you’re not an IT person the “add/remove programs” list might be a bit daunting, so how do you safely remove them?

PC Decrapifier to the rescue!

PC Decrapifier is an excellent free (for personal use) utility that will automatically remove unwanted programs from your new PC. When you run it, the software will give you a list of currently installed “crapware” and allow you to choose which programs you would like it to uninstall.

Here is a list of the software that PC Decrapifier removes:

http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/apps

Although it’s designed to remove the junk that computer companies put on your new system, it does not go after malware or other bad software that has gotten onto your system from years of neglect and bad web surfing habits. We’ll have a post about that software soon.

Download the software here: http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/download
